Luscious, Decadent Chocolate Pudding - Thanks to The Vegan 8!

Image
Finally, a chocolate pudding that does not contain avocado, banana or coconut flesh. After searching the internet, perusing several websites with inventive ways to create a veganish-vegetarianish chocolate pudding, I discovered one recipe that was closest to what my mind had imagined as a healthy version of this chocolate delight.  On the site, The Vegan 8, recipe guru Brandi, has created all kinds of updated versions of favorite desserts.  My creation is Brandi's version of Vegan Mexican Chocolate Sweet Potato Pudding with a few minor changes and it is fantastic ( http://thevegan8.com )!  My basic chocolate pudding varies somewhat as I wanted to use different quantities, sweeteners and milks, and leave out the cayenne:   2 cups packed, cooked, cooled, organic sweet potatoes (baked at 400 degrees for an hour or so) 2/3 cup organic cashew milk (mine was homemade, but you can use store bought) 6 T. Organic Divine Raw Cacao powder  1 T. organic ...

Whatever Your Age, Whatever You Eat...Keep Moving!

Image
Interesting survey looking at the different attitudes about nutrition of baby boomers and millennials seems obvious, yet what both groups should just KEEP MOVING! Whether you read new health information or not, the most important health choice, outside of nutrition, is to keep your heart muscle in good shape.  Even if one eats the most nutritious diet, yet practices slothery (my new made up word) your health is deteriorating, to some degree, due to the lack of movement.  Remember 10,000 steps a day for heart health.  As for the food choices, moderation in all things.

Developing the Best Diet

Image
It seems that every few weeks there is a "new" diet plan marketed online and in the media - take this, eat this, do this, etc., which makes the discovery of science-based nutrition hard to discern.  Dr. Gabriel Cousens is offering a free excerpt from one of his books to get your nutritional-motor running in an interesting direction.  An intriguing place to start... https://www.facebook.com/gabrielcousensmd

Best Tasting "Bottled" Organic Salad Dressing

Image
I always make my salad dressings from scratch, but while visiting a friend's house I was reduced to trying a "bottled" salad dressing.  Normally, I would forego the dressing and eat my salad along with the rest of the meal; HOWEVER, I was intrigued by the salad dressing brand.  I cautiously read the ingredients, not so bad, then I put a dab on my plate...shockingly good flavor.  It was a little sweet for me, as I NEVER add a sweetener to my dressings, yet this dressing was outstanding!  This very tasty "bottled" dressing is made by I Love Organic Girl...yes, the same company who consciously packages all of those organic greens also makes relatively clean salad dressings.  I tried the lemon agave, but they have several flavors available.  http://www.iloveorganicgirl.com/og/products/dressings/lemon_agave/

Raw Rev Glo - Favorite New Superfood Bars

Image
Recently I discovered this very interesting new protein bar, not only does it not taste like a sugar-fest (only 2 g sugar), but it packs 15 grams of plant-based proteins...gluten-free too.  Normally, I don't eat peanuts but this bar hits the perfect mark for on my palate - integrating it into my pantry as the ideal go-to craving bar NOW.  They also have other flavors that include chocolate, but I am sticking with this Creamy Peanut Butter & Sea Salt dream. http://shop.rawrev.com/product-p/glocreamypeanutbutterbar.htm
